Cindy Hawkins, owner of Circle City Sweets, loved baking from a young age. She started a small baking business in 2006, and joined the Carmel Farmers Market in 2007. Because of the tremendous success that she was having, and due to popular demand, Cindy opened her first retail location at the Indianapolis City Market in May of 2010. They now have five retail locations and do wholesale for dozens of businesses. Circle City Sweets currently employs twenty-three people.
Cindy makes all of her products from scratch. She believes in honest to goodness, fresh, scratch-made baking. To that end, Cindy heads to her bakery between midnight and 2AM to begin baking all of their retail and wholesale products. These products include fresh soups (from their sister business, Circle City Soups), croissants, cookies, brownies, fruit bars, Danish, cinnamon rolls, fresh bread, granola and special pastries. Because Cindy is French-trained, you will notice a French flair in much of her work.
In addition to baking, Cindy also teaches baking and pastry classes full time at Ivy Tech. She is obviously dedicated to her trade!
Cindy enjoys being a part of the Carmel Farmers Markets because it is a great way to meet customers face to face and to grow their business.
